This list is my opinion of the best saltwater kayak fishing channels on Youtube, and it’s based on watching more hours of online fishing shows than I’d like to admit. These guys all seem to be really genuine, down to earth people with whom I can relate. And, best of all, every one of them is highly entertaining!
Below are links to each of their channels, in no particular order. Read on for a short breakdown about each of them and why I like them so much.
Zoffinger (Marty Zoffinger)
It seems that Marty Zoffinger, with 140,000 subscribers at the time of this writing, is the heavyweight on my list. I became aware of Marty from watching his many mods to a cheap little red kayak which he lovingly named ‘Kon Tiki’ (shown below). According to an old blog post of Marty’s, he named this little kayak after a captivating book by the same name. In fact, I think I’ll order that book based on Marty’s suggestion in that post. Thanks for the recommendation Marty!
From his Youtube channel, Marty comes at you with a ponytail, sometimes a cold beer and always a laid back attitude. And, now that I think about it, I’m not sure he hardly ever wears shoes! He says folks often compare him to the famous painter Bob Ross. I have to agree! He is one chill dude.
He brings you along as he kayak fishes in the salt, or works on some random fishing-related project. Regardless of what it is, Marty Zoffinger always somehow makes it entertaining.
He does an amazing job putting his videos together and I have watched a ton of them. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve seen more than my fair share of Marty’s bare feet!
Besides fishing, his latest ventures have also included opening a new kayak sales and rentals business in the Tampa area.
I sincerely wish him great success with his new business and all future adventures. I’ll be tagging along from afar. You can too, by visiting Zoffinger’s Youtube site.
30milesOut (Ty and Theresa Southerland)
30milesOut, with Ty and Theresa, is definitely one of my absolute favorites. Ty is supremely talented. Not only is he an awesome fisherman, but he is an amazing musician and artist as well. Ty used to be in a band and he actually creates the music he uses on the show. To top it off, he somehow managed to find a wife that loves to fish as much as himself. WHAT! Sure did. And they make quite an entertaining fishing duo.
You might see Ty and Theresa fishing from their Hobie Kayaks, along the beach or even from a pier. They do it all.
They recently relocated from Texas to the Pensacola, Florida area. Can you say UPGRADE! This is where most of their latest videos are now filmed, and where they also run guided kayak fishing charters.
Check out their 30milesOut Youtube channel, or go to their 30milesOut website to find out more on what they are all about. You will be glad you did.
Yak Motley (Jack Motley)
I may have cheated a little on this one, as Jack’s channel covers far more than just saltwater kayak fishing. The kayak fishing is why I initially tuned in, and I ended up sticking around for the personality and variety on the channel.
Jack takes you on his daily journey through life, where he has a wide variety of adventures. These could span from calling squirrels with quarters to catching reef fish on some limb he chopped off a tree. And, of course, he goes kayak fishing as well. He and his cohort Brant even recently went offshore to catch some nice fish using fast food chicken biscuits. Huh? Yes, they did. I saw it and the link is below.
Jack is also big on following your dreams and grinding to make them happen. So there is lots of lifestyle and motivational stuff sprinkled in among the fishing. That’s part of the reason I enjoy the channel so much.
He produces so much content that you can scroll through and definitely find a topic that you’re interested in.
Jack is also a young veteran of the Army, and who doesn’t like to support our vets! Really enjoy this guys channel.
Here are a couple videos to give you an idea of what you’re in for. Neither one involves kayak fishing. But trust me, he does kayak fish! Trust me. 🙂 Just peruse the archives on Jack’s Youtube page to find what you like.
Conclusion
There you have it. Those are my three go-to saltwater Youtubers that I use to get my fix when I can’t go myself. All of these guys (and Theresa) really are an inspiration, as they have managed to follow their dreams and make a living doing it. I think It’s very impressive.
As a bonus, here are a few other great non-kayaking saltwater Youtubers to add to your subscription list. Contrary to the name, ‘SaltyKayak’ (below) actually does not cover kayak fishing.
With these 6 channels, you are sure to have tons of great content always waiting in your queue.
Till next time,
Augustus Clay
